1. License grant
Ad Marginem grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Ad Marginem desktop, mobile, browser extension, and Word add-in software ("the Software") on devices you own or control, subject to these terms.
2. What you can do
- Install on as many of your personal devices as you like.
- Use it to read, annotate, and manage academic content you have the right to access.
- Export your data at any time using the in-app Export Library feature.
3. What you can't do
- Redistribute, sell, sublicense, lease, or rent the Software.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software except where permitted by law.
- Modify or create derivative works.
- Remove or obscure proprietary notices.
- Use the Software to violate copyright, distribute malware, or evade security controls.
4. Updates
The Software includes an updater (P10.11) that periodically checks for and installs new versions. By installing, you consent to automatic updates. You can disable auto-update in Settings → Updates; security updates may still install automatically.
5. Open-source components
The Software incorporates open-source components listed in licenses.html
inside each installer. Those components are governed by their own licenses; nothing in
this EULA restricts the rights granted by those licenses.
6. Disclaimer of warranty
The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Ad Marginem does not warrant uninterrupted operation, error-free behavior, or compatibility with all devices and operating systems.
7. Limitation of liability
Ad Marginem is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Software. Total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Software in the 12 months preceding the claim (which is $0 for the free tier).
8. Termination
This license terminates automatically if you breach any term. On termination, you must cease all use of the Software and remove it from your devices.
9. Governing law
This EULA is governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
